On 1 September, Strata Mining Services proudly marks its fifth anniversary - a milestone that carries with it not just the celebration of five years in business, but the recognition of resilience, grit, and the unwavering power of people united by a shared vision.
Founded in 2020, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Strata Mining Services entered the heavy equipment rental industry as a standalone company at a time when uncertainty was at its peak. Navigating a global health crisis and a challenging economic climate was no easy feat, but the Strata family – dynamic, young, and energetic – pressed forward with determination. Today, they stand tall as a business built on trust, community, and a culture of togetherness that shines through in everything they do.
From the very beginning, Strata Mining Services set itself apart in the competitive opencast mining space by offering more than just pit-to-port mining solutions. Their philosophy has always been about pairing top-tier, mine-compliant equipment with highly trained operators who deliver exceptional efficiency and productivity. This people-first approach has been their compass, ensuring that stakeholders experience service excellence, while employees feel part of something bigger than themselves.
True to their spirit of innovation, Strata expanded in 2024, launching Strata Technical Services - a complementary venture dedicated to the upkeep and maintenance of heavy equipment. With a unique focus on heavy equipment maintenance, mine-site compliance and a keen eye for operational safety, this division has already become an integral part of their value proposition.
For Managing Director, Chrisna Basson, the secret to Strata’s success lies in its people. “Our focus has always been on people - our customers, our partners, and our incredible team.
